Implementation of Complete Monitoring Using Tivoli Tools
You can find out how to implement complete monitoring of system and application environment, including the mainframe, in the article published in our magazine - FYI No. 5.
For monitoring system realization the following software was used:
IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 for OS – for purposes of monitoring MS Windows and Unix platform
IBM Tivoli Universal Agent – for purposes of monitoring server’s network availability, monitoring system logs and monitoring of application NCS messages via socket data provider
Omegamon XE for DB2 on z/OS – for monitoring DB2 data sharing groups included in application operation
Omegamon XE for MVS – for monitoring z/OS systems and subsystems
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere Application Server 6.1 – for monitoring WAS on mainframe
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking 6.1 – for monitoring availability and response time of application interface. Automatic activity execution through application interface is enabled by usage of Rational Robot tool which is delivered together with ITCAM for RTT software.
All mentioned software tools are integrated in a shared monitoring infrastructure (Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server), which enables display of all events and data from the monitoring agents through one user interface as well as the feature of central administration of all monitoring situations.
