For Christmas 2008, CROZ decided to reallocate resources intended for buying Christmas presents for our business partners and donate to Krijesnica Association. The purpose of donation to Krijesnica Association was for the renovation of their facilities in Klaićeva, intended for children that are treated in daily hospital.
Krijesnica Association is an association to help children and families faced with malign diseases. The idea of forming such an organization came from the experiences of parents and medical staff at the Oncological Department of the Clinic for Children Diseases Zagreb, and the need to spread communication between parents and enhancing the quality of care for sick children.
The primary goal of the Association is enhancing the quality of life of families and their children who suffer from solid tumors, and to provide them with psycho-emotional and material help. Members of the Association are parents whose children are currently cured at the Oncological Department of the Clinic for Children Diseases Zagreb, and also parents whose children have successfully finished the treatment. Furthermore, the Association gathers various experts from that field who actively participate in its work.
Recent statistics show an increasing trend of children with tumors, therefore providing adequate care for children with malign diseases should be one of the priorities of every society. Chronic and life threatening diseases places huge demands on children and their parents, and it is very important to recognize the needs and problems of those patients and their families, in order to provide them with adequate assistance.
The aim of donations like this is to help; to enable parents to focus their strength on providing support to a child and to avoid additional issues regarding treatment, such as accommodation for families that do not live in Zagreb, buying medications, and education of parents about malign diseases.
