Requirements Management

According to independent studies, the leading source of failure of the IT projects is precisely the absence of a quality requirement management. Requirement data acquisition and its analysis assist development teams in reducing the risks and keeping the project dynamics on schedule.

For many years now, the Use Case method of defining requirements has become the most commonly used and the safest practice in the field of requirement management. IBM Rational RequisitePro tool is used in requirement management. This intuitive and user-friendly tool is used to establish the supervision of requirement and specification interdependence as well as to facilitate team work.

The main advantage of this tool, when doing the requirement data acquisition, is in the integration of the two somewhat contrary issues upon describing requirements. On the one hand, requirements need to be specified in detail whereat one needs to be sufficiently descriptive (for which purpose we generally use Microsoft Word), while on the other hand they also need to be well structured and one need to know their correlation (which is normally achieved by using databases). The tool combines in an utterly simple way the best from Microsoft Word and databases which in turn gives complete control over requirements.
